day at the river

the girls enjoying some sun, sand, and water at a great park in atlanta on saturday. layla really, really loves the sand and still has sand in her eyes hours later. and yes, olive even found a ball in the woods. tried to upload video and cannot get it to load so here are some snapshots.

bath day

now that the weather is nice i can go back to weekly baths.  scenes from yesterdays bath. maybe a little cold, but refreshing and keeps their coats shiny and smelling fresh. (hard to take photos cause i was basically as wet as them)

in other news, finally met their new dog walker today.  she is super sweet and now I feel better about them going off on adventures together.

from monday:

didn't know how much i missed my running partners...boy it was a great day to run...the temp was perfect! they were so good today as usual.

from tuesday:

we had a ball at the park...no punn intended (meaning that olive is obsessed with finding balls and eating them at park)  (dog walker called and asked if she could take them to park!) olive found every ball and chewed them all. layla was great! my dogs loved them. 

from tuesday afternoon:

olive as enthusiast as ever. layla- we went for short walk and came across a man and she growled at him ( but we passed by several others and she didn't growl, so i trust her judgement) 

shortly after she put her tail between her legs and refused to go further (classic layla)... she led us back home. layla must have been tired from park.

she learned from layla how to sit properly while riding in the car. people always stare at them when they do this because i think they look so serious.

we had a good time walking as always.  this is somewhere in decatur.  i luv layla's "joker" smiles. and again note how she just loves to pose for photos.  olive is just eating some grass or a bug or something.

yah! no rain on us...yet. terrific morning walk. the squirrels were out in force teasing the girls relentlessly.

i had to all but bribe layla...when i got here the poor thing was sitting on her bed shaking. it was raining hard and thundering. i carried her downstairs and outside. i took them on their walk...come back a few early and played. layla just went upstairs...she wouldn't even eat her snack :-)  i dried them off too and if you'd like i can brush them on days like this. they were so good. (side note-i warned the new walker that layla does not like the rain at all, but she was sweet to carry her outside and how great to offer to brush them.)

they were just too ridiculously cute as puppies.  tried to take same shot of olive as i originally did with layla, but if you know olive she is not one to sit still.

animal kingdom matched the girls up with a new walker named elizabeth monday because the girls just have so much energy and she is a runner.  i am wishing her good luck as the girls are not skilled runners.

monday:

you have the best dogs! they were very well behaved (i did not make up that part :-) . layla didn't growl at all at all the men we passed.

tuesday:

omg! they are so funny! we ran today. they couldn't run pass one mile...actually they ran me. after first mile layla all but said no more running! they came inside and plopped down. so cute.

thank you beth for being such a great doggie walker and sitter over the years.  we loved car rides each week to your house so we could run in your yard. we will miss you!

dog walking journal

layla and olive enjoy daily dog walks (two walks on two days) from ms patty of animal kingdom each week. below are a few excerpts from their daily journal this week.  beginning next week i will post their daily journal entries.

"oh boy, we better stock up on the sunscreen for our noses :-). very warm walk today. and wonder of wonders we didn't see even one squirrel. they must have been taking their siestas."

"well, well! miss layla was queen of the castle for the day. usually when i get here and she's upstairs, i just have to call her name and she comes running. but today.... she didn't come down. she was the queen napping in the middle of the bed!!!! tsk! tsk! but we had a fab walk. have a wonderful weekend."
